Eugene Ellmen, former National Director, Oikocredit Canada.
Oikocredit invests in microfinance, fair trade, co-operatives and agriculture in 70 countries around the world. Oikocredit Canada is the Canadian arm of the organization, providing capital to support its global lending and investment operations.
Prior to joining Oikocredit in January 2013, Eugene served for 13 years as Executive Director of the Social Investment Organization (now known as Responsible Investment Association), Canada’s membership network for responsible investment.
His previous work includes positions with the credit union sector, the Ontario government, journalism and private consulting.
He is an author and writer on responsible investment, and has won two awards for his work: the Social Investment Organization Distinguished Service Award, and the Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Award for work and dedication in sustainable and ethical business practices.
